Muscle testing is a great way of getting to the root of a problem. I believe that in order to rectify any problem you must first address the cause. For example, an old ankle injury may manifest itself as pain in the knee at a later date, leaving you with no idea how this occurred. The same could be said for a lower back problem, which later occurs in the neck, possibly causing headaches. In such cases we would need to fix the original cause before treating the symptoms. You may now begin to see the relationship that parts of the body have with one another and why it is important to look at the body as a whole and not just to treat the symptoms.
The spine is seen as the centre of everything. It offers support and attachment for muscles and tendons. If the spine is misaligned then muscles will not have their correct position. This causes tension in the muscle which often effects neighbouring muscles which can then have a large knock on effect.
Misalignment within the spine can sometimes affect mental wellbeing. This is due to the long tube, within the spinal column, that runs from the base of the spine into the brain, known as the dural tube. If this becomes twisted in can have an effect on hormones and mental wellbeing. This can often be the case in postnatal depression where during childbirth the pelvic bones become misaligned affecting the spine and so the dural tube.
Muscle testing involves the testing of individual muscles in order to establish subluxations or fixations within the vertebrae. Testing involves the therapist pushing against a muscle which the client tries to resist. When a client is unable to hold the tested muscle then a problem is indicated either within the vertebrae or in the muscle itself.
Subluxations and fixations can cause problems within the vertebrae meaning that it no longer has its normal range of movement. This can result from aches and pains to something more debilitating. A very simple test, yet a very accurate diagnosis. Once a problem is detected it can often be resolved using Tuina massage or cupping techniques.
There is no need to undress for this treatment unless an oil based massage is recommended to treat any problems.
The accuracy of the diagnosis relies heavily on muscles which are hydrated therefore you will need to drink plenty of water prior to treatment. If you do not drink water on a regular basis then it is wise to start drinking up to 2 litres daily a week prior to testing. This ensures that everything is properly hydrated.
If you are wearing a watch it will need to be removed and if you have a mobile phone in your pocket it will need to be removed or switched off, as the magnetic fields will interfere with a correct reading.
Digestive disorders are treated with a specialised abdominal massage known as Amno Fu. Amno Fu originated from China and is said to help conditions such as IBS, constipation, loose bowels, fertility and the release of toxins from organs. Firstly muscle testing is used to detect any digestive disorders then an abdominal massage will be carried out if necessary.
You will need to inform your therapist if you have or have had any of the following conditions:
