Indonesian Massage dates back more that 4000 years. Like Indian Head Massage, it is given to children from childbirth up until around the age of 6 where they are then taught and encouraged to practise on family members in order to create a close bond with the family.
In some parts of India it is tradition to give this form of massage to a bride-to-be leading up to her wedding day. The treatment can be seen as a ritual lasting many days, which softens the skin of the bride in preparation for her wedding day. It also forms a close bond between female family members who can give advice to the bride before her special day.
Indonesian Massage is an oil based massage, which works on the energy lines of the body. The treatment itself consists of four stages. Firstly a body scrub is applied to the skin before being washed off. A dry hand massage will remove any grains from the scrub, which are left on the skin whilst at the same time stimulating the skin and working on the energy lines. Followed is a deep oil based massage, which also works on the energy lines of the body, and finally a body soufflé is applied to finish. This massage will leave your skin soft and glowing and will leave you feeling wonderfully fresh and invigorated.
